Background for the project
In Denmark, more than 70,000 people are exposed to violence in close relationships annually. Of the 70,000, approx. 2,000 women and approx. 1,900 children annually in crisis centres. There is very little data or knowledge about what the remaining victims of violence do after the violence.
We want to be the ones you can seek out if you need a safe space where you can share, heal and reflect on others who have been exposed to violence.
The voluntary association Center for Power Analysis (CMA) was founded in the winter of 2019 at Nørrebro in Copenhagen. The association arose on the basis of a scientific thesis in anthropology - a study of connections between violence, power and silence in Denmark. Part of the thesis was to investigate the handling of violence by victims of violence, and the opportunities that victims of violence can seek out in Denmark.
In CMA, we work on the basis of a hypothesis that where there is inequality there is a basis for violence. We analyze political, social, cultural structures and phenomena to understand the complexities of violence.
We draw inspiration from queer and intersectional and feminist methods and thinking.
We divide the association's work into different initiatives. Read more about the different stakes under 'stakes'.
