We are a network spread across three local chapters in Copenhagen, Aalborg, and Odense.

The Center for Violence Prevention was founded in 2019 by Ditte Bjerregaard and is based in Copenhagen, Aalborg, and Odense. The organization consists of experts from various fields, including anthropology, psychology, criminology, and more. This interdisciplinary approach helps to understand and address violence and inequality at both individual and societal levels.

Have you experienced violence?
Are you a relative of someone exposed to violence?
Do you have a dual role in violence, as both a victim and a perpetrator?
Do you want to learn how to prevent violence?

Then you are our target audience.

Our support—whether it involves talking about your situation as a victim of violence or learning to prevent violence through education—starts from the same point!

We are experts in violence prevention. We gather knowledge collectively to prevent violence.

At CFV, we work with recognized research in prevention efforts—but we also incorporate knowledge from support groups and develop and publish our own insights, directly from the target groups.

We use this knowledge when educating and training professionals, victims of violence, experts, and students.

Our work is both theoretically grounded and practice-oriented. Our team possesses in-depth knowledge of violence, with many members having personal experience of its consequences. Together, we represent a wide range of areas of expertise.

Through our shared interdisciplinary approach, we are able to actively prevent violence and develop innovative solutions to complex social challenges. Our strength lies in the development of methods and our deep understanding of violence.

NEW WAYS OF TALKING ABOUT VIOLENCE

We view violence as a societal problem, not as an issue of the individual.”
We recognize that physical violence is often linked to discrimination, meaning that people who have experienced physical violence have typically also been subjected to linguistic forms of violence such as discrimination. Therefore, we treat discrimination and psychological forms of violence on an equal footing with physical forms of violence.

As a member of the association, you gain tools to prevent violence. Together, we create the societal change necessary to prevent violence.

NEW WAYS OF TALKING ABOUT VIOLENCE

CFV’s organizational methods reflect the organization’s commitment to counteracting all forms of violence.
We develop policy in collaboration with those who need change. We engage with politicians, draw on expert knowledge, and convey the experiences of people who have encountered violence. We use this knowledge to design targeted action plans and to educate participants, professionals, and students. We focus on turning negative experiences into strong, inclusive policies that combat poor well-being.

Therefore, the organization’s initiatives are structured around three offerings as part of a preventive, primary violence-prevention effort. In this way, CFV works purposefully to break the cycle of intergenerational violence.

Et dynamisk vidensgrundlag

Vi indsamler løbende ny viden om vold fra organisationens tre indsatser. Resultatet er forskellige vidensprodukter om voldsforebyggelse, der kan anvendes i praksis til forskellige målgrupper.
