THE VICTIM’S RELATIONSHIP TO THE PRIMARY PERPETRATOR IN CLOSED OR UNSOLVED CASES

METHOD OF MURDER IN CASES WHERE THE METHOD OF MURDER IS KNOWN

THE PERPETRATOR’S MOTIVE FOR THE MURDER IN CASES WHERE THE MOTIVE IS KNOWN

DATA BASIS

We lack access to all registered homicides in Denmark – our data and overviews are therefore not necessarily comprehensive for all femicides in Denmark over time.
Our statistics are therefore also not necessarily exhaustive or statistically representative of all femicides committed in Denmark during the data collection period (2000–2024).
Our data is based on an exploratory registration and mapping process drawing on available data sources, including access to public records, media coverage, etc

HOMICIDES NOT INCLUDED IN THE DATA

  • Homicides of women that cannot, with certainty or reasonable probability, be identified as gender-based. For example, cases of assisted dying.
  • Homicides of women that could have had a gender-related motive, where the perpetrator has been acquitted in court.
  • Homicides of women that could have had a gender-related motive, but to which we have, at this point in time, not been able to gain access.
