ABOUT THE FEMICIDE WATCH CARD
The above map is a visualization of Danish femicides. Briefly described, a femicide is a murder of a woman, which is primarily or partly due to the victim being a woman. Femicides can therefore include murders committed by a woman’s (ex)partner, a family member, a peripheral relation or a random stranger. In summary, for femicides, the gender of the victim has been decisive for the murder.
PÅ FEMICIDEKORTET FREMHÆVER VI FIRE PARAMETRE, SOM HAR BETYDNING I RELATION TIL DET ENKELTE FEMICIDE:
Kvindens alder / No. 1
Lokation for drabet / No. 2
Årstal for drabet / No. 4
Kvindens relation til gerningspersonen/gerningspersonerne / No. 4
PRESENTATION ON CFV’S FEMICIDE WATCH
Background
In 2021, Center for Violence Prevention launched the initiative Femicide Watch Denmark with the aim of monitoring and analyzing the killing of women. On average, 11 women are killed each year by a partner, ex-partner, a family member, another known relation, or a stranger. The organization has mapped 309 killings of women since 2000 and continuously obtains access-to-information records. Based on the largest dataset to date on killings in Denmark, the Center for Violence Prevention gives lectures sharing insights from the initiative and provides tools for identifying early signs of violence and preventing femicide.

FEMICIDE WATCH EDUCATIONAL OFFERRINGS
Violence in romantic and intimate relationships
Most people will, at some point in their lives, witness, be subjected to, or perpetrate violence. Therefore, it is important that we talk about how violence begins and what it takes to prevent it—or interrupt it if it escalates. The presentation lasts a total of 90 minutes, that is, 2 × 45 minutes excluding a break.
With this presentation, we teach students concrete violence-prevention methods, both as bystanders and in case they themselves experience violence in a close relationship.
Students will, among other things, learn about the ‘violence ladder,’ ‘love bombing,’ and psychological violence.
Well-being and violence prevention education
This presentation is based on an increasing trend of both implicit and explicit forms of violence that particularly affect young people. The non-consensual sharing of images, sexual harassment, boundary-crossing behavior, and domestic violence are just some of the current issues.
The well-being education focuses on building toolkits that strengthen understanding of power dynamics, boundaries, consent-based communication, and community.
Especially in primary and lower-secondary school settings, we have identified a lack of education centered on knowledge about violence, as well as community-building that gives individual students strong networks where they can, based on their own life experiences, talk about what violence is—and in this way help prevent violence in all its forms before it happens.
In collaboration with both the class and the class teacher, we work to co-create new ways of talking about community and interaction.
We offer presentations, workshops, and various forms of interactive teaching, such as performance theatre and anonymous question boxes, where all questions are welcome and where we invite the class into dialogue.
It is recommended to book at least a double lesson.
Gender, body & sexuality
Through presentations on gender, the body, and sexuality, we focus on how norms have developed over time and explore together how these norms affect the students. The presentation also addresses understanding the connection between body and mind.
IN 2023, 49 PROFESSIONALS PARTICIPATED IN THE MINI-TRAINING.
